Question about trade in car for cheaper reliable car and lower payment lower debt

For context we have a sienna and are upside on our debt at 55k. We had taken a rav4 but quickly found out we needed more space. Dumb move but much needed space at that time. We weren’t adulting enough yet.

Our payment is at 1k a month but my plan and the question is that if it’s feasible to trade the sienna in for 40k because is a 21 and we barely drive since remote jobs. Then get a 25k newer model Prius. Would this help me lower the monthly payment or is there another option such as leasing?

I would really like to just own that thing and drive the car until wheels come off.

Trade in sienna 40k Debt 55k upside 15k Take out 25k smaller car Will it lower my debt and still have a car and lower monthly payment?
